The Christopher’s Case

By Mark Stewart

Co-founder Mark Stewart represented the Paranormal Scientific Investigators with the Hillsboro Ohio Ghost
Seekers, on an investigation, at a downtown business establishment on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 where
paranormal activity had been reported.

Prior to investigation I gathered the environmental conditions that we would be investigating in. The ambient
temperature was 75 degrees Fahrenheit; relative humidity was at 79%. Winds were from out of the west at 12
miles per hour, solar rays were normal, the geomagnetic field was quiet and normal, the moon phase was
waning crescent at 45% full, the dew point was at 68%, precipitation at 30%, ultraviolet index was at 3 indicating
that it was moderate, and visibility was at 8.0 miles. It was not raining.

I met up with investigators of the other group on the outside and took some digital pictures of the establishment.
We went inside and met up with the owners and took a brief tour. I took indoor readings first chance I got. It was
79.1 degrees Fahrenheit inside with the relative humidity at 78.5 degrees. There was virtually no air movement,
the basement was dusty and had a foul smell of like sewage backup, very musty smelling.

The building is about 150 years old and the integrity of the structure was good, but it did have some problems,
the biggest being that water or possibly sewage was backing up into the basement. Not good! I spent most of
the investigation in the basement.

When I got to the basement I immediately began measuring the dimensions of the area (24’W x 65’L) and made
out a diagram noting where there was a small room, the light fixtures, where I set up my home base, and also
the elevator shaft as that was the only way to and from the basement. The elevator itself was based on a pulley
type system. Upon finishing the diagram, I did a sweep of the area using my cell sensor noting any possible
electromagnetic sources. No fluctuations were detected the entire evening. I used two digital voice recorders
during the evening with no evps detected. An investigator on the other team I believe did get an evp. I noted
that it was hand-held.

Twenty-four digital pictures were taken. Nothing paranormal was noted in any of the pictures. A Radioshack
digital surface thermometer and compass was used during the evening as well a Mastercool ambient
thermometer and a Mannix thermohygrometer was used. The only temperature fluctuation noted was with
Mastercool, but I believe this to be due to operator error. Two control objects were used during the evening
investigation, with no paranormal activity detected. Also all during the evening I used a Sony infrared handy
cam 8mm cassette voice recorder. After reviewing all the evidence, nothing was really detected at least that
was my own personal perspective.

Investigators present included Odessia Lewis, Wendy Sykora, Scott Fulkerson, Ron Fulkerson, and myself,
Mark Stewart.
