The Bucyrus Case

The Paranormal Scientific Investigators (PSI) received an email from a client on April 29 residing in
Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio. They indicated that doors were opening and slamming shut, hearing voices
and whispers of an angry male. Black shadows were also seen darting in and out of certain rooms. Their
dogs would even hunch down and growl at their staircase. The clients also indicated that recently they had
been sick whenever they are in the house. Friends indicated having seen full body apparitions. They also
indicated that there are also cold spots at times.
The house itself is a two-story building with a basement and with an attic (four rooms up, four rooms down)
and approximately 1700 sq. ft. The house itself is believed to be over a hundred years old.
We began our investigation on Friday, May 22, 2009. We began by interviewing the client, which lasted
about a half an hour. The client then gave us a tour of the place, while we diagrammed the layout, noting
electrical sources with our electromagnetic field detectors, where doors, windows and vents were.
After the tour, we began setting our equipment up in areas we considered the ‘hot spots’. With the lights
out, we began upstairs in the baby/spare room just a little after 10:00 pm. We took note of the environmental
conditions in our data logs. Temperature readings were taken; again the electromagnetic field detectors were
used as well as digital voice recorders. Questions were asked and pictures were taken. Orbs were noted in
numerous pictures. Some of the rooms, including this one had carpeting. Camcorders were used as well
including our multiplexer DVR unit with four infrared cameras.
There was a baby chair and tray sitting up against the wall. At approximately 10:50 pm we were going about
our business when the tray fell over. And it fell over rather loudly! No one was really near when it fell over.
We thought that perhaps the vibrations from us walking could have caused it to fall. We attempted to
duplicate it, but to no avail. Paranormal? Could be. Who can say for sure? PSI attempts to find natural
explanations for these types of things first. Was someone trying to communicate with us? Perhaps. After
reviewing the audio evidence, we found two possible evps.
Our pictures and cameras did not pick up anything other than some orbs as mentioned previously, but there
was one picture taken later by an investigator of what appeared to be a three-dimensional misty figure of
some type of animal. We had at this time already proceeded to the bathroom. The bathroom door to the attic
was said to open and had forcefully shut on its own. We set a camcorder at the bottom of the staircase
leading to the attic. It too, later fell over making a sound when it fell. We immediately had asked questions
and took pictures, emf and temperature readings and voice recorders recording, but detected nothing else
there. Could the camcorder falling over have been the children playing in the bathroom mentioned to us by
the client? Who can say for sure? We attributed it to not being set very well. On the other hand, it could have
been one way of trying to get our attention. We set it up again and it was fine after that.
The next area of investigation was the master bedroom in which we entered at about 11:30 pm. We took
emf and temperature readings, asked questions and took more pictures.
And finally we went downstairs and began investigating, asking questions, taking pictures, temperature and
emf readings. No further evidence was obtained. We wrapped up the investigation at 12:30 am due to the
two and a half hour drive back home. Investigators included Loretta Hurley, Donnie Shepherd and Mark
Stewart.
