Clinton County
New Vienna-Fallsville Wildlife Area
People used to come from miles around to attend the Young Men’s Literary Society in Fallsville. There were
debates and orations. The town also boasted a very successful mill and several streets. However, a number
of factors caused Fallsville to fail until, the last resident*, a solitary black man, died in his own home. Coon
hunters have heard horse-like noises as well as running and breathing. One person was wrapping up his
fishing trip one night, got into his truck, turned his lights on and saw two men dressed up like they were in
1800's garb. They crossed right in front of his truck, then walked into the field and then they were gone.
Some people believe it was Allen Trimble's slaves whom he had working for him. He also was the Eighth and
Tenth Governor of the State of Ohio.....

New Vienna-Tower View Apartments
The Tower View Apartment Complex in New Vienna is located near a graveyard. Whether the complex was
accidentally built atop unmarked graves, or just because it's so close by, or maybe because of something
which happened there, the place is said by many residents to be haunted.
Apartment 122 is haunted by the cries of a baby, as well as a sound like a bouncing ball. Things are often
moved or misplaced by unseen hands. The youngest son of a family which lived there often talked to an
imaginary friend he called Soccer Boy. Soccer Boy, he said, had lived in a house up the street, at the corner
of SR 73 and Nordyke Road, and had died there.
Apartment 225 is the site of loud poundings and a sound like someone running around the apartment, even
when no one is home. The manager often has trouble keeping the door to this apartment closed; even when
securely locked, it will sometimes pop open for no apparent reason.

Wilmington- Haw Chapel Cemetery
A tombstone in this small cemetery is said to glow when viewed from the road. The stone is standing
beneath a grove of trees, close to the road.

Wilmington College
Very similar to another haunted college--Wittenberg in Springfield--the lovely College Hall at Wilmington
College is haunted by a ghostly horse. It's actually haunted by two, which is bucking the odds no matter how
you look at it.
First is Ole Bill, the horse that belonged to Colonel Azariah Doan. Doan bought the unfinished main building
of failing Franklin College and finished it, founding Wilmington College in the process in 1871. For some
weird reason, he decided to entomb his deceased horse between the second and third floors. In 1957 a
horse's skull was put on display in College Hall, part of a complete skeleton which was found during
renovations to put in an elevator.
The other horse ghost is confined to the highest floor. According to college legend, a bunch of students
executed a prank there decades ago which involved locking live farm animals in the building. The horse they
put on the top floor went berserk and injured himself so badly he had to be put down.
Both horses are responsible for the clip-clop sound of horse hooves in the tiled hallways, as well as the
sound of a horse's snorts and whinnies. No horses have been in the building, which is now used for classes
and office space, in years--no living horses, anyway.

Wilmington- Snow Hill Country Club
New Vienna's Snow Hill Country Club is so haunted that they have a regular "dinner and a ghost" every
October. The main hotel building dates to the 1820s and has been plagued by mysterious occurrences for a
long time. They sometimes show up on camera in photos and footage taken at the country club.

Black Run Valley
Horseback Knob - There are many hauntings and legends in the Horseback Knob area. The ghost of a
baby can sometimes be seen and heard. Pioneers traveling through the area buried the infant after it died.
It's single tombstone still stands in the middle of the woods. There is a legend about some lost silver in the
region as well. Apparently either Indians or French explorers buried a hoard of silver in the area. Virginian
adventurers came across the silver and took it with them until the Shawnee turned against them. In their
hastiness to get away, they hid the silver and ran away, planning to return for it after the threat was over.
Their silver has never been discovered. It is supposedly cursed and those who go after it are often dealt
death and destruction. In the 1840s, a woman named Sallie Mae was gruesomely strangled. Her killer has
never been found and she is said to haunt the area, seeking revenge. Lastly, in 1940 a man jumped off the
side of a cliff to his death. He proclaimed that he was going to sacrifice himself so that the near Armageddon
would not occur. Some have claimed to see him taking the plunge for the sake of the world.
